Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda, Warn Authorities

They pretend to be Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing magazine subscriptions from the armed force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be from finance, the police, firefighters, or the municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, disappear and cease contact.
