Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as carabinieri when making telephone contacts with hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to official Army magazines.

They are not actual military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those with no relation to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the payment, disappear.
