Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who,

if they are seeking money, no longer show themselves.
