Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not actual members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or urban police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after receiving the money, disappears and is no longer seen.
