Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

seems to have money, but then disappears.
