Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army-related magazines.

These are not real military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to financial authorities, the police, fire brigade, or the Comune‘s police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those having no relation to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you have a sense that you are being targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, tend to disappear without giving further notice.
