Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to arm-related magazines.

They are not members of the military but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune-affiliated fire brigade.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that bear no relation to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, if they demand money, then disappear without a trace.
