Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, craftsmen, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, proposing magazine subscriptions from the armed.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or local police department.
How to Recognize Scams
They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you sense you have become targeted by someone who,
if they had money, would no longer be seen.
