Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, police, fire brigade, or Municipality officers.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to fictional magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, beware and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, disappear and are no longer visible.
