Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses
They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.
How to Recognize Scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
if they have money, will no longer appear.
