Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’re being targeted by someone who,

who would have money, disappears without a trace.
