Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Garda Region Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
