Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Garda Area Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

These are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or Municipality police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,

would seek money and then disappear.
