Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Garda Area Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the armed forces.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,

wants money, and then disappears.
