Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Garda Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

These are not genuine military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to financial authorities, the police, fire brigade, or the Comune fire department.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
