Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire department, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
