Scammers Pose as Police in Garda Area to Target Local Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, no longer show themselves.
