Scammers Pose as Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions in Garda

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the financial police, police, fire brigade, or Municipal Police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, if they had money, no longer shows themselves.
