Scammers Pose as Police to Trick Garda Entrepreneurs into Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality‘s officers.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
