Scammers Pose as Police to Trick Lake Garda Businesses into Paying

They pose as carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs around Lake Garda’s middle and upper areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri—simply call 112—at the first sign that you have been targeted by someone who, after receiving the money, disappears.
