Scammers Posing as Carabinieri Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, retailers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal guards.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having obtained money, no longer shows up.
