Scammers Posing as Carabinieri Target Garda Business Owners

They contact hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas by phone, claiming to be Carabinieri, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

These are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, if they are after money, will no longer appear.
