Scammers Posing as Carabinieri Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to their magazine.

These are not military personnel, but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, the fire department, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they have money, tends to disappear without a trace.
