Scammers Pretend to Be Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions by phone, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

These are not actual law enforcement officers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri—simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect that you have fallen victim to someone who, after collecting the money, disappears.
