Scammers Pretending to Be Carabinieri Target Garda Businesses

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance departments, police, fire brigades, or municipal guards.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
