Scammers Pretending to Be Carabinieri Target Garda Region Businesses

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
