Scams in Garda: Impersonators Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to fictitious magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

if they ask for money, disappear without a trace.
