September Festivals and Events at Garda: Wine, Markets, and Sports
Antique markets and fairs are a major attraction and point of reference for the September tourists flocking to Garda, who are also drawn by numerous festivals and events. Which ones? Here’s the scoop. Today, at the port of Bardolino, there will be a wine tasting featuring wines presented at the Bardolino Classico DOC competition, and at the kiosk near the Town Hall, grapes and juice will be distributed for ampelotherapy purposes.
Exhibitions are taking place in Lazise, in the exhibition hall of the former library, until the end of the month, featuring Franco Santi and Mary Bruna Stellin, both residents of Castel d’Azzano.
Upcoming festivals and exhibitions
The pumpkin festival in Piovezzano will last three days, including an exhibition, a contest, entertainment, and music. The final days in Malcesine will feature an art exhibition by Cristina Cristofol, set up in Palazzo Capitani. There are three days of the Mountain Tourism Exchange at the Palafiere di Riva, while free tastings of must and grapes, accompanied by live music, continue both in Riva, Arco, and Torbole from 10:30 am to 12 pm and from 4 pm to 6 pm.
At Arco, in the Casinò veranda, and in Riva, in the town hall porticoes, wine tastings and sales of wines, sparkling wines, grappas, and oils from Trentino will be held.
In-depth events and sporting competitions
Tomorrow, the International Triathlon will take place in Peschiera, while Ferraris will parade along Garda’s lakeside, where aperitifs will be served to the drivers. In the afternoon, in Garda’s Punta San Vigilio, the award ceremony for the national literary contest «Premio Riviera» will be held.
Two guided tours are scheduled: a walk from Coi to Crero in Torri (3-18/9), meeting in front of the parish church, and a guided visit to the Madonna del Soccorso in Marciaga, Costermano. The Taste of the Old will take center stage in Salò with the antique market on Piazza Vittorio Emanuele and along the lakeside.
In Alto Garda, at the Casa degli Artisti in Canale di Tenno, at 5 pm, the event «From Recipe to Plate with the Artist’s Menu» will be held.
Gatherings and Sunday events
Three days of fun in San Tommaso in Riva for the «Festival of Ua, So Fiol, So Neza and… Fritole». Sunday will also be a busy day. An antique market will take place in Valeggio’s town center; a Carabinieri gathering in Bardolino; a donor day organized by Avis in Peschiera; a guided tour of the Valsorda area and Monte Moscal, starting at 9 am at Incaffi in Affi.
In Desenzano, the Italian championship of decathlon events at Campo Tre Stelle, and a concert with aperitif by the Town Band at Piazza Malvezzi. In Bussolengo, an old-timer Fiat car gathering; an autumn regatta in Brenzones; and at the Rocca park in Riva, a fishing festival and competition for the «Tirlindana Day». Lastly, on Monday in Cisano di Bardolino, a free introductory evening for a bonsai course promoted by the Montebaldo Bonsai Club; in Garda, a mountain biking course; and in Ferrara, races and events for cycling enthusiasts and amateurs. To cap it all, at 9 pm at Palazzo Capitani in Malcesine, a piano recital with maestro Luca Gualco will take place.
