Simona Marocco Wins Poetry Contest with “Come a Cat” at Inchiostro Event
Simona Marocco, a nineteen-year-old from Carmagnola, won the second edition of the free theme poetry contest with her short poem «Come a Cat». The event was organized in Padenghe sul Garda by the public library in collaboration with the literary magazine «Inchiostro».
Marco Belotti, the coordinator of the cultural initiative, announced the news, highlighting that «poetry entries were received from about thirty authors». «The publicity that Inchiostro provided allowed us to expand the participant pool across Italy, unlike the previous contest which only had provincial resonance», he added.
In second place was Margherita De Napoli from Modugno (BA) with «Impostura», while Giuseppe Acciaro from Bologna finished third with «Pensiero».
Winning Text and Elaborate Phrases
Here is the winning entry of the contest: «I unraveled/a ball of love/ that I didn’t know I had,/ using it to make you/ a warm sweater/ in the coldest times./ I melted the ice/ of your days/ past/ and with that thread, I held you/ close to me/ forever»
. It was published along with others in the current issue of «Inchiostro».
«Now — explained Belotti — we are studying the next initiative with the Padenghe library, which is expected to materialize as the second edition of the storytelling contest, presumably taking up part of the previous theme (no more interviews, but something related to the impossible). We will start in spring».
Future Activities of Inchiostro
With this initiative, now in its sixth year, Inchiostro reaffirms its significant presence in the Garda area. Reserved for the works in prose and poetry by emerging and amateur writers, the magazine also features drawings, poems, comics, interviews, and reviews, all strictly unpublished.
Texts are published free of charge, unlike other outlets that require contributors to pay a fee. Readers can submit stories or verses, as well as continuations of previous stories, creating a sort of domino effect that makes «Inchiostro» the first interactive literary magazine in its field.
The editorial team is also considering organizing a creative writing course in the coming months.
