Recent data highlights a significant increase in tourism in Sirmione, with over 14,600 visitors recorded in the historic center during the May 1st holiday, marking a 16% rise compared to the previous day and a 58% increase compared to Easter. The numbers continued to grow in the following days, with nearly 13,500 visitors on May 2nd and around 12,800 the day after. Carlo Massoletti, president of Confcommercio Brescia, emphasized that the influx of tourists has also affected nearby locations such as Desenzano and Salò, while Alessandro Fantini from Federalberghi Brescia called for new regulations to address the issue of overtourism.
In this context, Marco Merlo, president of the CARS (Consortium of Hoteliers and Restaurateurs of Sirmione), highlighted the importance of managing tourist flows to preserve the quality of life in the area. He proposed the adoption of specific strategies for the locality to ensure sustainable enjoyment of its natural and historical beauty. The peak of visitors was observed in the afternoon of May 1st, with over 63% of entries concentrated between 1 PM and 6 PM, making it clear that targeted interventions are necessary to improve the tourism situation in Sirmione.
