Sirmione Defends PGT Variant Process in Council Response

The municipality of Sirmione defended the procedure used to adopt its general variant to the PGT, approved by the City Council on July 29 (resolution no. 34) after more than six years of proceedings. Responding to opposition claims, the administration said that out of 180 amendments submitted shortly before the meeting, the proposals were based on technical maps and documents but lacked the required opinions and preliminary review, so they were reclassified as “observations” under Lombardy Regional Law no. 12/2005. It also noted that a motion to reconsider the decision in “autotutela” was rejected at the last council session.

The municipality said the PGT process remains open: during the subsequent phase for observations, citizens, technical experts, and minority groups will be able to resubmit proposed changes. These will be examined individually, with support from municipal technicians and the VAS, before the plan’s final approval.
