The diva lived in Sirmione from 1950 to 1959, and Mayor Luisa Lavelli expressed pride in the portrayal of Callas on the big screen, emphasizing how her presence remains vibrant within the local community.
The mayor invited Jolie to visit Sirmione, stating that only by experiencing the place can one fully grasp the essence of the Divine. The Liberty-style villa where Callas resided still stands as a symbol of her memory, and the locals fondly recall the peaceful moments the singer spent in this corner of paradise on Lake Garda.
