Sirmione Launches Summer ZTL with 31 Pedestrian Zones Starting March 23
Sirmione is preparing to launch its 2026 tourist season with a management plan focused on balancing quality hospitality, safety, and local livability. From March 23 to October 13, an extended summer Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL) will regulate visitor flow, protect historic sites, and ensure safer access for residents, workers, and tourists.
The “Sirmione 2026” operational plan, part of the broader “Sirmione 2030” strategy, includes a technical simulation scheduled for March 26 to test pedestrian pathways and emergency access routes, employing retractable barriers and electric ambulance simulations. Additionally, the city has started distributing resident and worker access permits, and a public meeting is set for March 27 to detail new measures. The plan also features increased pedestrianizations, controlled tourist bus access, enhanced emergency services, and specific transit rules aimed at safeguarding resident quality of life during the busy season.
