In Sirmione, on September 10th, the new primary school named after Benedetta Bianchi Porro will be inaugurated. This project, costing 13 million euros, promises innovation and eco-sustainability. With 18 classrooms designed to accommodate up to 600 students, the new facility also features a revamped cafeteria where children will have the chance to enjoy pasta for the first time. However, the rising costs of raw materials have led to an increase of 50 cents per meal, raising concerns among families.
The project has experienced significant delays compared to the initial timeline, and minority council members from the “Siamo Sirmione” group have voiced criticism regarding the high costs and the size of the building. Despite the controversies, the municipal administration is also considering new opportunities to utilize the space of the old school, while the new institution will offer innovative activities such as music therapy and robotics.
