The public library of Sirmione concluded 2024 with exceptional results, highlighting its significance in the community’s cultural events. Despite being closed for a month in October for renovation work, the library recorded 23,087 loans, marking an increase of 2.5% compared to the previous year and a 21% rise from 2022. Participation in events saw a significant boost, with 1,797 attendees, a 34% increase over 2023 and a staggering 260% increase from 2022. The library’s collection has surpassed 39,000 resources, demonstrating its commitment to meeting the needs of the community.
Roberto Salaorni, City Councilor with a focus on culture, emphasized that the library represents the heart of local cultural life, while Lisa Vettori, the Library Director, highlighted the importance of professionalism in managing the services offered. With a weekly opening of 37.5 hours, well above the regional average for libraries, Sirmione reaffirms its status as a dynamic and accessible cultural hub for readers of all ages. The programming includes reading groups and various courses that further enrich the library’s cultural offerings.
