Sirmione, a supermarket replacing the historic Nautica Moretti. The construction site for a new Aldi store in Sirmione has been initiated, which will be located in the area of the former Nautica Moretti in Colombare, closed since 2017 after 54 years of operation. The building permit was granted last September, and the opening is expected to coincide with the start of the summer season. However, the project has sparked discussions regarding the urban planning designation of the Colombarola area, which has been neglected in recent years.
Andrea Volpi, a member of the minority council from the Sìamo Sirmione party, expressed concern over delays in updating the local urban planning, which dates back to 2009. He emphasized the need for a coherent development plan for the entire area, already characterized by the closure of several businesses. On the other hand, Deputy Mayor Maurizio Ferrari defended the project, pointing out that the urban planning guidelines have been established since 1980 and informed that a variation to the Land Use Plan is scheduled for this year.
