Sirmione Water Rescue: Boat Rental Operator Missing in Deep Waters

A boat rental worker in Sirmione has gone missing after jumping into the water to help a child in distress on a small craft. The child was rescued, but the man disappeared in an area where the seabed drops to about 52 meters, according to witnesses who alerted the Coast Guard operations room.

Search and rescue operations began immediately with the fast unit GC A58 conducting surface checks and a diver on site for initial assessments. The response was later expanded with the patrol boat GC 703, the Red Cross water ambulance, and Fire Department divers who arrived by helicopter from Venice, with additional divers expected from Verona. Volunteers from “Volontari del Garda” are supporting the search using an ROV and sonar equipment, and efforts to locate the missing worker are still ongoing.
