Sirmione is preparing to host one of the most anticipated stages of the Giro d’Italia Women on July 8th, an event that combines high-level sports and important social messages. After hosting major events such as the Mille Miglia and Swim the Island, the town on Lake Garda is ready to once again become the center of international sports attention.

The Giro d’Italia Women stage will see the athletes depart from Sirmione and reach Volta Mantovana, covering a distance of 102 kilometers. The route will pass through various towns in the Brescia plain, including Lonato, Montichiari, Asola, and Medole, before reaching Guidizzolo. Here, the group will tackle a circuit that culminates with the finish line in Volta Mantovana.

The chosen route for this stage not only highlights the natural beauty of the area but also provides a technical challenge for the cyclists. Starting from the picturesque shores of Lake Garda, the athletes will venture into the Brescia plain, passing through several characteristic municipalities. This itinerary allows participants and spectators to admire diverse and enchanting landscapes.

In addition to the sporting aspect, the Giro d’Italia Women also represents an opportunity to promote relevant social issues. In particular, the Sirmione-Volta Mantovana stage will be accompanied by a campaign against gender-based violence. To symbolize this social commitment, a red/pink bench has been placed on Via Salvo D’Acquisto by the Municipality of Sirmione.

Among the athletes participating in the competition will be Barbara Dominici, who is originally from Sirmione. Her presence adds further pride for the local residents and emphasizes the importance of sport as a vehicle for positive messages within the community.

With its warm welcome and breathtaking landscapes, Sirmione confirms itself as an ideal setting for events that combine sports and social engagement, offering the audience an exciting spectacle that leaves a significant mark both in terms of athletics and humanity.
