On May 14th, at the “Luigi Olivari” Military Airport in Ghedi, the charitable initiative “Everyone Has Wings” took place, organized by the 6th Wing. The main objective of this event was to demonstrate that disabilities should not be an obstacle to realizing personal dreams and aspirations.
The event saw active participation from numerous citizens, companions, and friends of the 6th Wing, all united in support of this important cause. Among the attendees was the Prefect of Brescia, Dr. Andrea Polichetti, who reiterated the local authorities’ support for initiatives aimed at aiding individuals with disabilities.
## An Inclusive Event
The event was organized in collaboration with the “We Fly! Team” aerobatic squadron, unique in its kind, where two of the three pilots have disabilities. Additionally, the Amateur Sports Association “Wheelchair Karting” provided modified karts to allow individuals with various types of disabilities to participate in “kart therapy” sessions. Thanks to the commitment of local associations and motor clubs, hundreds of individuals with disabilities were able to experience a unique adventure in karts and sports cars.
Activities took place from 10 AM to 5 PM in a designated area of the airport, where participants had the opportunity to drive along the taxiways normally used by the fighter jets of the 6th Wing.
## Messages of Inclusion and Hope
The initiative “Everyone Has Wings” conveyed a strong message: there are no limits when it comes to pursuing one’s dreams. The Aerobase once again demonstrated its fundamental role in social inclusion, highlighting how flying can also be accessible to anyone wishing to explore new possibilities.
A touching moment of the event was the meeting between the Red Devils and Captain (retired) Piero S., who has been battling a serious illness for over seven years. The day also included a fundraising effort aimed at supporting patients with ALS and financing technological equipment at the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital in Rome.
## Acknowledgments
The Commander of the 6th Wing, Colonel Luca Giuseppe Vitaliti, expressed gratitude to the present authorities, the involved associations, and especially the participants with disabilities for their humanity and determination. The positive response from the attending public confirmed the importance of solidarity within the local community.
