The debate over the Corda Molle toll has intensified following the hearing held yesterday at Regione Lombardia, where representatives from the Province of Brescia, the affected municipalities, and trade associations addressed the issue of introducing this tax. President Emanuele Moraschini reaffirmed the commitment to ensure the Corda Molle remains free of charge, emphasizing the need to collaborate with institutions to find a solution that meets local needs. On the other hand, Councillor Paolo Fontana clarified that any decision regarding the toll will be postponed until the completion of the works and the approval of the 2024-2028 Economic and Financial Plan (PEF).
The situation remains complex, with Regional Council Vice President Emilio Del Bono expressing concerns about the assurances provided by Minister Matteo Salvini. He urged for greater dialogue between the Region and the Ministry of Transport, while Councillor Massimo Vizzardi called for direct political intervention to highlight the urgency of the matter. Finally, Councillor Paola Pollini warned about the toll’s introduction scheduled for June, stressing that any discussion on discounts must be supported by concrete data on traffic flows.
