Staffolo Neighborhood Gains Traffic Restrictions After Town Hall Meeting

Meeting at the town hall and decisions on traffic regulation

The meeting yesterday at the town hall between the mayor, Arturo Sigurtà, and a delegation from the Staffolo neighborhood, led by Dallamano the consul, had a positive outcome. In a few weeks, a complete ban on transit will be enforced along the residential streets of the area for heavy vehicles coming from the quarries.

Residents had complained because, after various protests, it was decided to implement a one-way exit towards via Carpenedolo, which they considered unnecessary. Currently, prohibition signs are already in place in both directions, but Sigurtà, in agreement with the neighborhood committee, has decided to implement the ordinance gradually.

Timelines and projects for traffic variation

“The mayor asked us to be patient for another about fifteen days,” explains consul Giuliano Dallamano, “to give truck drivers time to get used to driving towards Gozzolina, without passing through Staffolo. We agreed with this solution, given that there is still clear intention to implement the complete ban soon.”

Sigurtà also informed the committee that, for now, there are no financial resources available for a possible underpass at the former Goitese and not even for contributing to the development of a space for Catholic worship.

Future prospects and interventions

“Overall, we are equally satisfied with the constructive atmosphere that has developed,” comments Dallamano. “The mayor received us and gave a positive response to the most pressing issue, that of traffic. We hope that other interventions in this sector can be carried out when the new bus stop area is built at the intersection between the former ring road and via Pisacane,”
