State Police Seize Apartment from Organized Crime in Riva del Garda

A confiscated apartment of over 100 square metres, including a garage, has been temporarily assigned to State Police staff in Riva del Garda. The protocol signing took place on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, at the municipal offices, in the presence of Mayor Alessio Zanoni, Government Commissioner Isabella Fusiello, and Trento Police Chief Nicola Zupo.

The property had been definitively confiscated by the Naples court, with the case upheld by Italy’s Supreme Court in 2011, and transferred to the municipality in 2020 under the anti-mafia legal code. The housing will accommodate four officers of the local police headquarters, with the State Police covering utilities and related costs, and is intended to support institutional and social needs while addressing high rental costs that make it difficult for officers to live locally.

Zupo said the measure is also meant to help retain personnel by reducing the frequent need to relocate after training. With the upcoming August 2026 intake and the addition of a second 24/7 patrol vehicle during the summer period, the police force aims to stabilize experienced staff on the territory and strengthen public safety.
