In the botanical garden in Gardone Riviera, a statue dedicated to Graziella Belli was inaugurated on Saturday. Belli was the director of the facility for 37 years. The work was commissioned by the Porsche family, the current owners of the garden, and created by British artist Poppy Field.
Graziella Belli arrived at the garden 37 years ago with the task of overseeing the restoration of the villa, but she devoted her entire life to the project, turning a technical assignment into a mission of botanical care. During her leadership, the garden expanded its collections and strengthened its identity as an open-air museum, welcoming more than 50,000 visitors each year and becoming one of the region’s main tourist attractions.
