The Stelvio National Park is celebrating its 90th anniversary with a series of initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable tourism and mountain biodiversity. The festivities will kick off on April 24, the date of its establishment in 1935, with free entry to the Park’s visitor centers. Additionally, June 18, the day the founding law came into effect, will provide another opportunity for free access to the facilities. Activities will be complemented by an informational flyer distributed at the visitor centers and local tourism consortia.
The Park covers over 130,000 hectares across Trentino, Bolzano, and Lombardy, involving 23 municipalities and representing an important part of Italy’s natural heritage. The Autonomous Province of Trento currently manages the Park, focusing on scientific research and biodiversity monitoring. The regional councilor for agriculture and the environment emphasized the importance of protecting this area rich in flora and fauna, highlighting that approximately 28% of the Trentino territory is designated as protected areas.
