Stolen Van Flees Toscolano Maderno Prompting Security Concerns

A stolen van chase in Garda unfolded Monday afternoon involving a 65-year-old German man. The suspect forced a police checkpoint near Gargnano and Toscolano Maderno around 3 p.m., leading to a high-speed pursuit along the Gardesana road, during which he repeatedly evaded police and drove in the opposite direction.

The chase ended near the Toscolano Maderno bridge, where the suspect’s van collided with a passing car before stopping at a roadside newsstand. The man was detained by local police, tested negative for alcohol, and taken to hospital for drug screening. He claimed the vehicle was borrowed from a friend and was charged with theft and resisting arrest.
