The municipality of Lazise will host an important conference dedicated to the prospects of sustainable mobility and intermodal tourism within the context of Italy’s lakes. The event, organized by Navigazione Laghi to celebrate its 68 years of operation, will take place on July 21, 2025, and will bring together institutions and key players from the transport sector. This meeting represents a strategic opportunity to analyze existing and future synergies in the Lake Garda basin and other lake areas, aiming to promote an integrated and environmentally conscious development model.
The Day’s Program
The celebrations will take place at the Dogana Veneta, starting at 11:00 AM. The day will begin with institutional greetings, followed by two thematic roundtables. This event has been designed as a moment for reflection on the evolution of public transport and the economic opportunities related to tourism in inland waters.
First Panel: Synergies for Integrated Transport
The first discussion, titled “Intermodal Tourism, a Multiplier of Local GDP”, will feature key figures from the transport sector. Participants will include Pietro Marrapodi, Government Manager of Navigazione Laghi, Andrea Gibelli, President of FNM spa, Maria Paola De Rosa, Head of Sales for AV at Trenitalia spa, Angelo Costa, CEO of Arriva Italia srl, Guido Martinelli, President of ASF Autolinee srl, and Matteo Corti, Managing Director of SSIF spa. The focus will be on agreements and collaborations among various carriers aimed at promoting an integrated public transport system and reducing its environmental impact.
Second Panel: The Economic Value of Lake Tourism
The second session, titled “Italy’s Lakes, the Strength of the Future”, will address the theme of tourism as a driver of economic, social, and employment growth for local communities. The panel will include Elisa De Berti, Vice President of the Veneto Region, Franco Lucente, Councillor for Transport and Sustainable Mobility of the Lombardy Region, and Senator Alessandro Morelli, Undersecretary of State with responsibility for CIPESS. The discussion will focus on how inland water resources can become a strategic lever to enhance the region’s excellence and unique landscapes.
