Recent events have highlighted the building irregularities and the increasing tourist pressure that threaten the ecosystem of Lake Garda, an area renowned for its potential for sustainable tourism. The environmental organization Gruppo d’intervento Giuridico (GrIG) has denounced the situation, pointing out that the rise in real estate development, particularly the controversial “Resort Cape of Senses” in Torri del Benaco, is compromising the natural characteristics of the region. The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Verona has contested unauthorized volumetric interventions within the tourist complex, requesting the seizure of areas developed without proper authorization. While awaiting the judgment scheduled for February 26, 2026, the Municipality of Torri del Benaco has issued a building permit that deviates from the current urban planning regulations. However, according to information obtained from a request for civic access by GrIG, no project has been submitted for environmental impact assessment related to the resort. The association has therefore urged the relevant authorities to conduct investigations and take the necessary legal measures to protect the environment in such a fragile and significant landscape area.
