Sirmione is gearing up to host once again the acclaimed event **Swimtheisland**, the open water swimming competition that will attract thousands of athletes and enthusiasts to the shores of **Lake Garda**. The event, scheduled for Saturday, June 21, and Sunday, June 22, will see the local waters, awarded the **Blue Flag**, become the stage for a weekend entirely dedicated to sports and the enhancement of natural heritage.

### A Race Program for Everyone

The event will kick off on Saturday, June 21, with the shorter races. At 2:30 PM, the “Family/Team Event” (800 m) will begin, followed by the MWM Sprint Challenge (800 m) at 3:30 PM, designed to engage a wide audience of swimmers, from families to sprinters.

The highlight of the weekend will be Sunday, June 22, featuring competitions over classic distances. At 9:30 AM, the 1,800-meter race will take place, while the most anticipated moment will be at 11:30 AM with the start of the “Classic,” the 3,200-meter race. This varied program aims to meet the needs of athletes with different levels of preparation.

### Recognition and Territorial Synergy

The return of **Swimtheisland** has been met with enthusiasm by the local administration. Mayor **Luisa Lavelli** emphasized the importance of the event as a vehicle for territorial promotion, stating, “A prestigious event that attracts thousands of people and promotes our territory and its beauties on an international level.” She also highlighted how the recognition of the **Blue Flag** adds further value to the event, certifying the quality of the waters.

The event is organized by TriO Events, in collaboration with the Municipality. The logistical base, which includes the village and expo area, will be set up at Lungolago Armando Diaz, while the traditional starting point will be from Spiaggia del Prete.

### A Consolidated Format

For this edition, the format remains true to the tradition that has made the event famous. Athletes will have the opportunity to swim along a course that runs alongside the historic center, offering a unique perspective of the Scaligero Castle and the Grotte di Catullo directly from the water. Approximately 2,500 swimmers from over 20 nations are expected to participate.
