Tarello School Engages Students with Senegal Through Cultural Exchanges

For a year now, the 260 students of the Tarello middle school have been involved in a project dedicated to learning about other peoples.

“In particular,” — explains Prof. Mariani — “we focused on Francophone cultures. During the previous school year, we had already established correspondence with young people residing in France and other countries.”

This year, all classes centered on the knowledge of Senegal. Classroom lessons were complemented by meetings. The school then discovered Operazione Africa, an initiative created by Irsae Lombardia, which launched cultural and technological exchanges with developing countries and established a partnership with the international youth exchange center between Europe and Senegal.”

Event at Teatro Italia and meeting with authorities

Today at Teatro Italia (9:30 AM), a meeting will be held involving the Assessor for Education Fontana, the Honorary Consul of Senegal Luigi Roncato, and the representative at Geneva of the international exchange center Papa Birame Mbour.

There will be a twinning between Tarello school and a school in Senegal. The students from Lonate will send six computers to their colleagues.
