The Guardia di Finanza of Riva del Garda has recently uncovered a significant tax evasion scheme related to tourist rentals, revealing undeclared income exceeding 500 thousand euros. The operation stemmed from a meticulous analysis of online platforms dedicated to short-term rentals, where property owners were identified as lacking the provincial tourist identification code (CIPAT), now known as CIN. The investigations led to the collection of detailed information about the hosts through international cooperation with foreign tax authorities.
A total of 20 property owners from various locations in the Alto Garda region, including Riva del Garda, Arco, and Nago-Torbole, were involved, having failed to declare the income generated from their rentals. In addition to filing a complaint with the Judicial Authority for the omission in reporting the data of the guests, the names of the individuals have been reported to Trentino Riscossioni S.p.A. for the recovery of unpaid tourist taxes. This intervention underscores the commitment of the Guardia di Finanza to combat tax evasion and ensure economic legality in the area.
